The Lowellville High School Varsity Volleyball Team has currently played ten conference games and has a record of 7-14 and an overall record including non conference games of 3-11. The team still has four more conference games scheduled as well as four more non-conference games. This year the Rockets took on many difficult non conference teams they have not faced in the past. It has been a challenging first half of the season as the team has adjusted to many new changes.

The new head coach, Ron Slipkasky, describes this season as a growing season. Coach Ron explains it took the team a few weeks to start playing their game as many girls have new positions they have not played prior to this season. This may not have been the most successful season for the Rockets, but they definitely have grown as a team.

Senior Savannah Procick shared her favorite memory from this season. “The team bonding we did throughout the summer,” Procick said.

Sophomore, Hadassah Rivera, and Coach Ron Slipkasky share their favorite memory from the season so far, beating Waterloo in four sets. Hadassah said, “As a team this was one of our best games yet, we played very consistently and had lots of energy. The whole team was very motivated to win”.

This was a very exciting game as the players were very motivated by a sign The Vikings had made. The sign read, “Lowellville you dropped this…L”. This sign was motivating to the team because it was telling them they were going to lose.

Throughout the summer the team tied dyed shirts together, attended two volleyball camps, and played many team bonding games. This summer they also attended two different all day summer tournaments at which they played many different schools in and out their conference to build and grow their team as a whole.

The rest of the season consists of teams Lowellville has already played this season, including Waterloo which will be a very good game. Including the teams we have already played we have four non-conference games against Mathews, Chalker, Campbell, and Lordstown. Good luck with the tournament!
