The history of Easter eggs dates back for centuries. The first known Easter eggs were designed in the 1290’s. People used to paint, color, design, and add gold foil to their eggs and would bring them to church as an offering to their Lord. As time went on it turned into a special offering to others on Good Friday, this would include the people in the church along with friends and family. Times have definitely changed and we now give Easter eggs to young kids on Easter. They can be filled with candy, money, or be made of chocolate. It has also become a fun craft to do as a family. A person's religion has an impact on the way the eggs are decorated. Some individuals hand paint, others use a wax method to add designs, some just dye the egg, and there are so many other possibilities to choose from. When using the wax method you would either have to use a wax crayon or a kistka pen. With both of those you can draw a design before put your egg into the dye. Once you remove the egg from the dye wherever you placed the wax will not be dyed. You can repeat this process as many times as you please in order to add multiple colors to your egg.
Some people use acrylic paints and make beautiful pictures and designs. Others use a kistka which is a pen that you put wax in and warm over a candle. With this wax pen you can make very small detailed designs, with this you can color your egg then put wax over the areas you want to keep that color and then proceed to add another color, you can repeat this process as many times as you please. Another way you can dye your easter eggs is in a small bowl with different color dyes in them. Whether you want to get creative with lots of details or just make your Easter eggs all one color making Easter eggs is a beautiful, creative tradition passed down to family members of all ages
