Band Spring Break Trip To Disney
Over Spring Break the marching band traveled to Orlando, Florida. The band goes on this trip every four years. Seniors and juniors that were in band their freshman and sophomore year had the chance to go for a second time. While the band was in Orlando they visited Disney Springs, Hollywood Studios, Magic Kingdom, and, on their last day, Universal. On Thursday, April 13th, the band performed in the six o’clock Magic Kingdom parade. Ninety Lowellville students marched down Main Street, USA with bands from schools all over the country..
While some band students flew down with their parents, others took the almost 20 hour bus ride down to Orlando. Students on the bus did anything they could to get some sleep and save their energy for the days ahead at Disney. Some were sleeping on the floor, or somehow curled up to fit on the seat.
Senior Evan Alfano had the opportunity to go to Disney as an 8th grader so he already knew what to expect, and knew which rides he wanted to go to first. His favorite ride was Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit at Universal Studios. Evan’s favorite part of the trip was watching Happily Ever After at Magic Kingdom.
Geno and Vinny Perry came to Lowellville and joined the band this year and this was their first time going to Disney. Both Vinny, and Geno’s favorite ride was the VelociCoaster at Universal Studios. Geno’s favorite memory was from the VelociCoaster ride because it was Ryan Neider’s first big roller coaster. Vinny’s favorite part of the trip was going to Hogwarts in Universal Studios.
7th graders Liam Goodman and Mya Harris-Bedoya were excited for their first band trip and spending time at Disney. Their favorite ride was the VelociCoaster. They had an amazing time and can’t wait until they can go again with the band in the future!
This trip had many long, hot days while students were busy spending our whole day in the parks from open to close, riding roller coasters, shopping, watching shows, meeting Disney characters and eating delicious foods. This trip allowed kids to make many memories with their friends that will last a lifetime. This was especially bittersweet for the Seniors who will be going their separate ways soon when they graduate at the end of May.
