Lowellville Junior Varsity Baseball

Baseball is a sport that requires a lot of players and with Lowellville being a small school we do not always have enough players to field a varsity and junior varsity team. With nine people playing on the diamond at the same time, a large number of players is required to have a complete roster. The Lowellville varsity baseball team has a roster of 21 people making it hard to have a regular junior varsity team because we simply do not have enough players. The Lowellville band trip to Florida occuring in the middle of the 2023 baseball season, unfortunately caused close to half of the players to be absent for a whole week. During this chaotic week, three junior varsity games were played by players who did not attend the band trip to Disney. These players were John Allaby, Liam Bartlett, Christian Coira, Nick Donatelli, Landen Esenwein, Donovan Gomez, Cody Nolfi, Zak Sargent, Tyler Tuscano and Luke Vanca.

On Tuesday, April 12th the first JV game was played at home against Mathews. The Rockets started with an early lead but eventually ended up taking the loss 13-5. The second game was played on Thursday, April 14th against Springfield where they lost 10-2. In the final JV game of the season which took place on Saturday, April 15 in Hubbard the Rockets won 15-10.

With Lowellville not having a JV team, these games were very valuable towards the younger players who don’t get much playing time for development in skill and experience. Now with the Florida trip wrapped up, the varsity team is back in action. Good luck to the Rockets! We hope to see you at the games!
