The Lowellville High School Softball team has been busy team building this season. This year, the Lady Rockets welcomed two new coaches, Carla Rosetta and Brooke Kalitich. Aside from adding two new coaches the team has also welcomed a few new players to the roster including Guiliana Alfano, Natalee Macejko, and Laila Rivera. The team is also filled with many returning players including sophomores Alyssa Kuzan, Morgan Lewis, Maddie Esposito, Michelle Cavna, juniors Sophia Alfano and seniors Sidney Price, Brooke Ginnis, and senior Mykenzie Rotunno.
With not a lot of players filling the roster, the team this season had a slower start to the season and have a record of 2-9 with wins against Springfield and East. The team has faced many challenging teams including Springfield, Western Reserve, Jackson Milton, Campbell, and McDonald.
Laila Rivera joined the softball team this year for the first time playing softball since 5th grade. She shares with me that this season has been a fun and learning experience.
According to Maddie Esposito, the most exciting moment this season was beating Springfield. She said this game was the most exciting because Springfield is their biggest rival. Maddie is excited for the tournament game Monday, May 8 vs. Sebring.
The Lady Rockets have two more games left to play before tournament play. The teams they have left to play are Sebring and Mineral Ridge. Good luck to the Lady Rockets on a successful end to their season!
