National Teacher Appreciation Week is dedicated to all teachers during the week of May 8-12. The purpose is to celebrate the work these teachers do and to thank them for the help they give. Schools aren’t the only places who celebrate this week, restaurants and popular retail chains recognize teachers’ hard work with discounts and freebies to celebrate. One of the most popular fast food restaurants, Chick-fil-A sometimes will give a $5 gift card along with a thank you card. Starbucks offers a 10% discount to all teachers when shown a school ID. Firehouse Subs provides teachers with a free medium sub with a purchase of a medium or large sub with chips and a drink. Buffalo Wild Wings is offering teachers six boneless wings for just $1 with the purchase of any burger through May 30th or free fries with any purchase during any week through June 30th. Barnes and Noble is offering teachers a free tall hot or iced coffee. Stores like Michael´s and Hobby Lobby give a 10% discount to teachers during their special week.
Lowellville teachers were treated in a variety of ways during Teacher Appreciation Week. The PTO, Superintendent Sawicki, Mrs. Parry, and Mr. Samartino showed their appreciation of Lowellville’s staff with donuts, cards, candy, a Chick-fil-A gift card, and lunch on Wednesday. Lunch was provided by Sweet Melissa’s including salads, wraps, buffalo chicken dip, chips, and jumbo cookies. Sweet Melissa’s is located in Boardman on Market Street.
Last year, as a thank you to our teachers, Mrs. Reamer provided a coffee cart with a variety of coffee, creamers, tea, and cookies for teachers during the Teacher Appreciation Week. Teachers and staff loved the cart so much that Mrs. Reamer and the National Honor Society Seniors come around every Friday twice a day with coffee and cookies for the teachers and staff. The Rocket Review staff would like to thank Mrs. Reamer for continuing the coffee cart, and we hope to see this become a new Lowellville tradition. This is a great way to show teachers how much they are appreciated on a regular basis, not just during the national week celebrating teachers and school staff.
