Lowellville Elementary had lots of fun this Halloween! The elementary grades K-6 had a Halloween parade around the school track dressed in a variety of Halloween costumes. Parents and grandparents were in attendance to cheer and watch the students parade. After the parade students had fun at their class parties. They shared treats from classmates and teachers and played games and enjoyed fun activities.
Mrs.Augustine, one of our kindergarten teachers at Lowellville Local Schools, set up a fun day on Halloween for her class to enjoy. Her class showed off their costumes to each other and said what each of them dressed up as. Mrs. Augustine prepared fun Halloween coloring sheets, Halloween themed centers, and watched Spookley, the Square Pumpkin with her students. Each student received a treat bag from their teacher and candy from their classmates.
Mrs. Higgens, a first grade teacher, prepared several fun Halloween themed activities for her students after the parade. Students played pin the face on the jack-o-lantern, Halloween bingo, participated in a scavenger hunt, and a pumpkin toss game. They also took pictures at the photo booth that she set up for her class. The student passed out candy or treats if they wanted to and Mrs.Higgens passed out little treat bags for her class to enjoy.
Mrs.Wittenauer, a second grade teacher, said, “The students are very excited for Halloween and are really looking forward to dressing up in their costumes and making memories with her friends.” Some activities they did included a stem activity with vanishing ghosts and creating candy corn arrays for math. This year she made homemade brownies as different kinds of Halloween characters for her students. Some students passed out candy to their friends.
Mrs. Matisi, a third grade teacher, had her students dressed up in their costumes for the whole day. Activities they did during the school day included Wordo, a spelling bingo game, they made boats out of foil and filled them with candy corn, and read a Halloween story. Students also passed out candy for their friends to enjoy.
Mrs. Chomas, a fourth grade teacher, also had a Halloween party where they dressed up for the whole day. Some activities students participated in included a coloring contest, making skeletons out of straws, building a structure out of pumpkin gummies and toothpicks, and a distance contest. Her students were allowed to bring candy or treats for the other students in their class.
During the Halloween parade some of the students and parents were interviewed about what they love about the Halloween parade. One student said, “I love getting to march in the parade and dressing up with my friends!” Students were excited and happy to be participating in the Halloween parade and festivities.
Parents were happy to be at the parade, too. One parent said, “ I always look forward to seeing everyone in their amazing costumes and seeing how happy they are.”
Another parent said, “ Getting to see my kids and their friends every year dressed all up in their costumes is one of my favorite parts of the month.”
