Meet Lowellville’s New Third Grade Teacher

Let’s meet Mrs. Signor! Mrs. Signor is a new third grade teacher at Lowellville. Her favorite subject to teach students is reading. “I love just getting kids to grow, and really just even surprise themselves in what they can do.”

Before teaching at Lowellville, she taught at Youngstown City Schools for six years. Mrs. Signor has wanted to work with elementary students since she was in high school. She was a coach for the Struthers Little Wildcat Cheerleaders, and loved it so much that she decided to work with children. Her inspiration to become a teacher came from her love for school. She says, “School was always my safe space."

Mrs. Signor grew up in Struthers, Ohio. She went to Youngstown schools until third grade, and then went to Struthers until her senior year. Her favorite subject in school was choir. She participated in the show choir and was the choir president. In her free time, Mrs. Signor enjoys playing with her kids. She has a three year old daughter, and a son who is almost eight months old. She also likes to read and write, and she plays piano and sings at church. If she couldn’t be a teacher, Mrs. Signor would want to be a stay at home mom. But, she says, “I love teaching and I’m supposed to do it… I’m meant to be a teacher.”
