Chocolate Easter Eggs

What was in your Easter basket this year? Is there a favorite candy you look forward to eating at Easter? Did you ever have a chocolate filled candy egg? I know I have and they are one of my favorite choices for around Easter time! There are two main companies that I usually order from. One place is in Struthers called Giannios or Philadelphia Candies in Youngstown. These candy shops are very popular, especially around Easter, and these eggs are delicious!

There are different flavors of fillings in each of the eggs. Philadelphia Candies does not have as many options to choose from as Giannios. Giannios has chocolate pecan fudge, butter pecan fudge, cookies and cream, krispy crunch, marshmallow, marshmallow nut, milk almond royal, milk almond toffee, milk caramel peanut butter, chocolate chip, and lastly fudge. My personal favorite is peanut butter, but there are some that I have never tried and sound amazing. I’m a big fan of cookies and cream so this one sounds really good. These eggs typically run about $15 for a 1 or 2 lb. egg. If you have never tried these eggs I definitely recommend it and you won’t regret it!

When asking Lowellville students what their favorite Easter egg treat is, many people chose the chocolate peanut butter eggs because it reminds students of Reese’s peanut butter cups. Another favorite was the cookies and cream chocolate egg. Both candy stores sell chocolate year round so if you missed out on trying any of these flavors for Easter you may be able to find them at the candy counter in the store.
