Best Band in the Land “Jingle Bell Rocks”

As Christmastime rolls into town, families are excited to attend Christmas concerts at their children’s school. Parents and grandparents filled the bleachers on the evening of December 7, 2022 to attend Lowellville’s Christmas Band Concert, which featured both the junior high and high school concert bands.

The jazz band started off the show with “Angels We Have Heard On High” and “Jingle Bell Rock.” Junior High played “Little Drummer Boy,” “'Twas’ The Night Before Christmas,” and “Holiday Processional.” High school finished the show off with “The Polar Express,” “It Came Upon The Midnight Clear,” “Dashing Through The Snow,” and “O Come, All Ye Faithful.”

Band director, Mr. Antonucci, feels that the jazz band, junior high, and high school concert bands all did a fantastic job and he feels that it was the best each group played their music. Mr. Antonucci feels that directing a concert band is hard to describe and that is something that needs to be experienced to understand. He enjoyed seeing the smiles on the audience's and performers' faces, watching the students take ownership of their music, and the overall pride they showed while performing.

This year Mr. Antonucci has a student teacher, Mr. Deal. He feels that the high school and junior high concert bands did great. He feels that directing a concert band is a lot of fun and he never knew as a kid that this was the career path he wanted to take until he did it himself. He is very proud of his students for putting on such a wonderful performance.
