Lowellville's 1,000 Point Club

Basketball is a sport loved by millions of people around the world and there is a lot you can achieve with the sport. You will make new friends and get wins over others and even win championships if you are good enough. However, with team achievements there are also individual achievements, one such achievement accomplished by a slight number of people, is scoring 1,000 career points in the course of 4 years in high school. Lowellville has had many 1,000 point scorers, but none for a while until this year.

Anthony Lucente and Vinny Ballone had the milestone on their basketball bucket lists. Vinny and Anthony have been in Lowellville’s starting lineup since freshman year and they both have improved tremendously in their basketball careers so far. Anthony Lucente joined the club in the middle of his junior season against McDonald at home, he had 15 points on the night along with the victory. Alongside Anthony is Vinny Ballone who also recently joined the club this year in our first game against Crestview at home on November 29, 2022. Vinny had 26 points on the night and played a big role in the win helping the Rockets start the season off 1-0. Vinny and Anthony’s achievement did not come to them easy, they worked hard, because success doesn’t come from sitting around and doing nothing.

Anthony is very honored to be a part of the club and he wants people to know if you keep working hard you can accomplish anything. “I feel very honored, it’s definitely a special thing because I worked my whole life towards it, it's always been a goal of mine. Outside for hours doing drills and shooting every single day no matter what, after practice, after school, sometimes before school.”

Vinny Ballone has the same gratitude to be in the club alongside Anthony. Vinny is a hard worker who will do anything to pursue his dreams and improve his craft of the game. “I expected it probably my freshman year, I was hoping to just be able to score points and get up there. Just work hard everyday, go get the extra time in after practice, shoot a couple shots after practice.”

Vinny wants student athletes to know that if you want to accomplish your dreams and goals you have to work hard everyday and do the best you can. We would like to congratulate Vinny and Anthony on hitting this milestone! We wish them the best of luck for the rest of their basketball season!
