The NBA is entering a new era. With lots of young players recently stealing the spotlight, it’s easy to get caught up in who to pick for your fantasy team. Fantasy basketball is a game where you manage a fictional or “fantasy” basketball team. You draft your team, make trades and do everything real NBA general managers do while playing against your friends. Here are NBA players you need on your fantasy roster this season.
1. Nikola Jokic , Denver Nuggets: Coming off two back to back MVP seasons, Jokic is expected to do great things this season. While being a phenomenal scorer, rebounder, and passer, he’s one of the safest options you can go with.
2. Luka Doncic, Dallas Mavericks: With it only being this young star’s 5th year in the league, he has already solidified himself as a superstar and a triple-double machine. Although a great playmaker and scorer, his shaky free throw percentage is a concern.
3. Giannis Antetokounmpo, Milwaukee Bucks: Giannis has consistently been one of the top players in this league for the last few years. Winning two MVP’s, a championship, a Finals MVP, and a Defensive Player of the Year Award, he is nothing short of an all time great.
4. Stephen Curry, Golden State Warriors: Steph is without a doubt one of the most popular names in basketball and has been for quite some time. With him recently breaking the NBA record for most 3-pointers made, you can most definitely rely on him to lead your fantasy team.
5. Jayson Tatum, Boston Celtics: In this young superstar’s 5th year in the league, he has already led his team to a finals appearance. He has been an elite scorer and is expected to really break out this season.
6. Kevin Durant, Brooklyn Nets: Durant has been one of the faces of the league for nearly a decade. His extremely versatile game and scoring ability has helped him dominate year after year. Although Durant is turning 34 this year and is quite prone to injury, he is still a safe pick for your team.
7. Joel Embiid, Philadelphia 76ers: Embiid is one of the most dominant forces in today's basketball game. He can explode for 60 points any night and really make a difference on your team. Unfortunately, Embiid has a past full of injuries and inconsistency, making him a riskier pick over some of the other players.
8. James Harden, Philadelphia 76ers: Harden is without a doubt one of the most talented NBA scorers of all time. Since being traded to Philadelphia where he shares the floor with Joel Embiid his numbers have taken a hit. He is a great pick for scoring points and assists at the guard position.
9. LeBron James, Los Angeles Lakers: LeBron James has been arguably the best player in the league for 15 years. On top of that arguably the best player of all time. His age is starting to catch up to him, he has suffered a number of injuries recently, but is still one of the safest picks in the game.
10. Ja Morant, Memphis Grizzlies: This exciting young point guard has been far from a disappointing player. His crazy athleticism and leadership has helped him become a top point guard in the league within the last 4 years.
11. Honorable Mention, Trae Young, Atlanta Hawks: Just landing outside the top ten, Trae is one of the best young scorers and playmakers the league has seen. The Atlanta Hawks are going to have a great season!
