In today’s world, and especially in Lowellville, there is a strong division between Chipotle and Hot Heads eaters. Most of the people who have tried both places have strong feelings about which is better. Chipotle and Hot Heads both offer quick, Mexican foods, the most popular being bowls, burritos, and chips with dips. Although both are Mexican restaurants, the tastes of the food are wildly different at each restaurant. A poll taken by Lowellville students and staff showed that Chipotle is more popular.
Out of 71 people, 20 believe Hot Heads is the superior choice. Responses to the question “why?” ranged from Chipotle being “mid” to more specific answers. Hot Heads lover, Bobby Loftus, said, “Chipotle seems… unsafe. I always hear of food poisoning cases. I think I got it from there once.”
Meanwhile, some Hot Heads fans enjoy that they pay less than what they do at Chipotle for basically the same food. Others believe that the taste of Hot Heads’ food outshines Chipotle by a mile. One student said, “Chipotle’s rice tastes way worse than it did a year ago. Their meat can be over/under seasoned with no in between.” Another common answer when asked “why” is that they have more options, including sauces, which makes it easier for picky eaters. The main response as to why Hot Heads is better than Chipotle was that Hot Heads’ food is spicier. This is a big pull for certain customers because they enjoy spice more than they pay attention to the flavor.
Out of 71 people, 51 believe Chipotle is the more obvious choice. When asked “why?”, almost all students said, “it’s just better.” . Casey Gordan said that Chipotle has “better ingredients and better fajitas.”
Averi Shumaker thinks Chipotle’s chicken pollo asado is the deciding factor for her, while other students agree that the chips are what makes it the best. Although it is more expensive, many students believe that the higher price translates to the higher quality. Pat Vari Coppola thinks the higher prices of the food may also translate to better service. He said Hot Heads workers “judge” his order and make him feel uncomfortable, while Chipotle workers are kinder and more welcoming.
Even though the sauces from Hot Heads draw in some customers, Chipotle advocate, Mrs. Kerpsack, believes “you shouldn’t have to add sauce. The food should already taste good.”
Although it all comes down to personal preference, Chipotle is the clear favorite in the ‘ville. 31 more students chose Chipotle over Hot Heads. Even though there were a variety of reasons as to why, it is obvious that to these students that Chipotle reigns supreme over Hot Heads. Which do you prefer?
