One of the most important parts of the offseason for football is the weight lifting program. According to Coach Jarrod Vrabel you have to show up and be in shape for football. One of the ways you can do that is hitting the weight room. The benefits to lifting in the offseason include being stronger, building team chemistry, and improving upon yourself overall as an athlete. This will help you during a hard ten to fifteen weeks of high school football at Lowellville. Also, the coaches that have been interviewed were either head coaches, assistant coaches, or played football at a high level at some time in their life.
The coaches that are in the weight room will get you prepared and ready for the upcoming season as long as you put in the work and listen to them. Working out in the offseason can teach you some valuable things like having a strong work ethic and discipline. Coach Vrabel has a lot of experience with getting his players ready in the offseason and the benefits to it. “It really gets you prepared for the season with how hard you work,” said Coach Vrabel. Anything experience wise comes with a lot of lessons learned, some of these lessons were important to Coach Vrabel’s improvement as a football player throughout his career he said, “I remember building relationships with players.” He also mentioned that he played college football and he was asked to compare the two levels. He said, “They don’t even compare, college is very mandatory and if you don’t work you are most definitely off of the team.”
Coach Andrew Mamula of the Lowellville Rockets has coached at many good football schools like Poland and currently coaches Lowellville. He said the key thing to look for in a good strength program is kids that work hard and they have to be self motivated. He described what a hard worker looks like. He said, “Kids that want to get better as an all around athlete.” There is also a difference between when he played and now, the difference is back then if you didn’t go to lifting you weren’t going to play and now it is kids can lift on their own time. He said the goal for any hard worker to succeed during the season is making sure they are prepared and ready for the season.
An athlete's ultimate goal is getting ready for their season so they can be prepared for the challenges ahead. From the interviews conducted you can be very sure that the coaches WILL get you ready for the season ahead. If you want to succeed in life you have to put in the work so you can go far and that is the exact goal we are trying to achieve by working hard everyday. So, why don’t you get started by heading down to the weight room?
