Asking someone out on a date is stressful in itself but trying to plan a first date is even more stressful. We’re here to help alleviate that stress by giving you fun and easy ideas for your date. What constitutes a “good” date idea varies from person to person. Here’s a variety of options to choose from.
Picnic in the park: If you are more of the romantic type, go pick up some flowers, a blanket, and cook a romantic dinner or order your favorite take out. Next, go to your local park and start to assemble the picnic. There are plenty of parks to choose from in our area including: Boardman Park, MillCreek Park and Lowellville’s own Pine Hollow Park. This is sure to impress your date.
Dinner and a movie: This is a classic date idea. For the dinner portion make sure it is something you both agree on, preferably somewhere fancier like Aqua Pazzo or Donavitos. This goes for the movie portion too, make sure it is a movie they have not seen before and they also like. Fun upcoming movies are Guardians of the Galaxy 3 and Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes.
Drive-in Movie: A drive-in movie is the perfect date idea and here's why: You do not have to talk and risk the chance of awkward silence. You also do not have to sweat about the price, drive-ins are not expensive at all, and you can also sneak all the snacks that your heart desires in for the movie. Guardians of the Galaxy 3 and Fast X are two great films playing in the Drive-Ins now.
Hike: Hiking is a little bit different type of date. If you are a talker and want to get to know someone this is the date for you. Hiking as a first date is a more memorable experience for both of you. By going hiking you are creating one on one time and getting to fully know each other and you are able to give them your full attention. There are great spots to go around here such as Bear’s Den in Mill Creek Park or even Lowellville’s own Pine Hollow.
Bowling: Bowling is a great idea to get to know the other person and keep busy. There is less chance of awkwardness when you go bowling. You want your date to feel comfortable and relaxed on the date. Bowling is a good way to ensure that they feel that way. You can even get a little competitive while on this date.
Ice/Roller skating: This date can go two ways. Maybe both of you are absolutely horrible at skating and then in the end you have something to laugh about.
Or perhaps only one of you is good at skating. If this does happen it will turn out to be a cute date when one of you has to help the other learn. If both of you are good at skating you're in for a good time. Youngstown Skate is open for all to go rollerskating and The Ice Zone is open for ice skating year round.
Flower Garden: The Rose Gardens are a beautiful place and are an easy and inexpensive date idea. You can go through the paths and see the beautiful flowers, trees, and fountains. There is also a small cafe if all the walking works up an appetite. This simple and creative idea will surely impress your date.
Amusement park: This is for thrill seekers and makes for a fun, exciting date! Cedar Point is a little bit of a drive but it is an incredibly fun trip. We recommend going in the early spring when the weather is nice but the guest count isn’t at its peak. This date can get a little pricey at times but it is worth the memories.
Go-karts: This date is perfect for those of you with a competitive side. Go-karts are great, lighthearted, and fun races for you and your date to compete in. As long as you don’t go overboard on trying to win, this is a great way to go head-to-head with your significant other. Sports-World, which is open through the spring and summer, offers go-karts as well as many other activities like mini golf and an arcade.
