Field Day Frenzy

Lowellville Elementary School held their annual field day on May 19, 2023 for students in kindergarten through sixth grade. High school students in the Wellness Club volunteered to help the students with each of the activities. For the track and field portion of field day, students participated in different activities including jump rope, throwing a softball, 4x1 relay, open 400 meter dash, and the long jump. In the side yard, students participated in a balloon toss, tug of war, and relay races. There was also a dunk tank in the parking lot for students to take turns trying to dunk The Lowellville Avengers: Mathew Lucido, Casey Gordon, Tino Rivera-Ocasio, Kaden Primous, Hadassah Rivera, and Natalie Parry. After field day, they were treated to Kona Ice.

Many students in Lowellville High Schools Wellness Club helped run field day. Maddie Esposito helped run the side yard activities. She shared the students had a lot of fun doing these activities. Hadassah Rivera, a member of Wellness Club and an Avenger, said,“Field day was a very fun day that allowed younger students to have fun and connect with each other’’. She also shared that even though the dunk tank was cold it was still nice to see the kids having fun trying to dunk her. Hailey Wolfgang, Emma Wirtz, and Merissa Ivory shared they all had a really fun day and enjoyed the track events. They said they were sad that it started raining and they didn't get to do the side yard activities. Two of their favorite activities of the day were the Kona Ice and the softball throw.

Parker Macejko and Bently Fahrner said their favorite part of the day was the dunk tank and the Kona Ice. On the track their favorite event was the 4x1. They also shared that field day is a day they look forward to all school year

Field Day is an exciting day because students just get to go outside and participate in many different activities. From jump rope to softball, students in elementary grades enjoy a memorable day with their friends, teachers, and high school volunteers. The students I spoke to seemed to enjoy the Kona Ice, dunk tank, and track events the most. It’s always fun to enjoy a cool treat after being outside all day, not to mention dunking high school students in the dunk tank! Thank you to the PTO, teachers, and all the student volunteers for making field day so much fun for the elementary students.
