Meet Mr. Sammartino

Mr. Sammartino is our K-12 assistant principal, who has been in education for 14 years. He started out at Madison Local School District in Madison, Ohio as a sixth grade language arts teacher and title one reading teacher, where he taught for six years. Once he came to Lowellville he taught eighth and ninth grade history, ninth grade English, ACT prep, and social media. Later in his career he became the Athletic Director. During his role as Athletic Director he realized he wanted to get more involved with the district and become the assistant principal. When Mr. Sammartino was in school; he had many teachers that had an impact on his life and were very influential, helping him with school and athletics, and helping him stay on the right path. That is when he knew he wanted to go into education.

Once he realized he wanted work with education he did some field work and observed some classes. Mr. Sammartino’s favorite part of being a principal is working with the staff, seeing his kids everyday, and knowing that every day is different. When he gets some time to relax he likes to travel to Little Italy in Cleveland, downtown Pittsburgh and Columbus to see his sister and her family. He loves spending time with his wife Jenna and four year old daughter Giuliana. “She likes to keep me very active and on my toes,” said Mr Sammartino. If Mr. Sammartino did not go into education, he would have gone into the business field, or maybe even health care.
