Meet Mrs. Esenwein

Meet one of the newest staff members of Lowellville High School, Carrine Esenwein, a high school intervention specialist. Mrs. Esenwein teaches students one on one in a variety of subjects including science, language arts, math, and social studies. As an intervention specialist, Mrs. Esenwein enjoys working with students individually instead of teaching a whole class. She also assists some of the 8th grade teachers in their classes such as Mr. Dougherty in history, Mrs. DiRienzo-Olson’s Italian class, and Mrs.Walski in Spanish. This is her second year teaching in Lowellville and she absolutely loves it. She was a substitute teacher for a total of twenty years after she graduated from Youngstown State University in 2002, subbing in many schools in the area, including at the old school in Lowellville, and at the present one.

Mrs. Esenwein worked as a full time teacher and a tutor at a few other schools such as Immaculate Conception, Youngstown Community Schools, and Austintown Local Schools . Before she decided to become a teacher, her major in college was undecided. She tried some different things and took a large amount of science and history classes because she loved science and history. She enrolled in an Introduction to Education course where she worked with a fourth grade boy. When teaching him, it filled her heart to see him get so excited about learning, especially when it finally clicked. This inspired her to get her degree in education and become a teacher. To this day, her favorite thing is seeing her students succeed.
