Meet the new teacher and coach of Lowellville High School, Christina Freed.
She went to college at YSU and graduated in the fall of 2017. A fun fact about Ms.Freed is that being a teacher was her backup plan while she originally wanted to be a photographer. She then realized that photography was more of a hobby so she switched her major over to being a health and physical education teacher.
Freed was subbing for five years up until this year when she became an official teacher at Lowellville High School. She teaches elementary as a gym teacher and middle school as a health teacher. Her favorite part about teaching is hearing the kids say the most funny things that make her day, getting insulted and complemented at the same time, and she likes knowing that she’s making a difference in someone’s life. Her favorite part about coming to work everyday is seeing the kids smile. Next year she looks forward to being more prepared for each lesson, now that she will have experience, so that it’s way more fun and much easier.
This is also Ms. Freed's first year coaching here at Lowellville. She’s been coaching for five years, coaching volleyball and other sports such as lacrosse and soccer. She loves coaching the JV volleyball team. She lifted them up and supported them throughout the whole season. Her JV team had a winning record this year, and she’s very proud of her girls. Ms. Freed can’t wait for a new season to come and for the game to keep her on her toes.
