St. Louis, Missouri native Solána Imani Rowe, best known by her stage name SZA, is a female musical artist who has recently stepped into the spotlight at 33 years old. SZA started releasing music in 2010 and many people related to her music because she expressed her feelings through her songs. Her growing popularity brought her studio albums to fame. Since her start in the music industry, she has released two studio albums, her first album, Ctrl came out June 9, 2017, and her second, SOS came out on December 9th, 2022. Ctrl reached the third spot on the Billboard Charts and SOS spent five weeks in the number one spot on the Billboard Charts. In 2022, SZA and Doja Cat won a Grammy for Best Pop Duo/Group for their hit “Kiss Me More.”
Many of her songs have now become popular on the social media app TikTok, such as “I Hate U”, “Nobody Gets Me”, “Blind”, and “Good Days”, but “Kill Bill” has to be the most popular yet. This song is about seeking revenge on her ex, while still being in love and possessive over him. She reveals some anger within the lyrics and wishes to get revenge throughout the song. At the very end she finally gets her revenge and is now satisfied.
We created a bracket of some of her most popular songs, and decided to let the students of Lowellville High School decide which SZA song they think is the most popular. As we predicted, “Kill Bill” won by an outstanding amount. It was no surprise since it’s probably her number one hit right now on TikTok. SZA will begin her first-ever arena tour, S.O.S. North American, on February 21st, 2023 in Columbus, OH. The concert starts at 8:00pm. Her tickets front row cost $377.50, seats towards the back of these venues are $269.00.
