Most coffee drinkers go to Starbucks or Dunkin and forget about some of the more local places such as Mocha House, Peaberry’s, Stone Fruit, You Me Oui, and Valley Cafe. We visit local coffee shops to try some of their specialty drinks and menu items. We decided to try these coffee shops because they all offer a very diverse menu with different selections for everyone's taste.
At Mocha House in Boardman, we tried the cappuccino made with a shot of espresso and frothed milk with cinnamon and the caramel bliss which is a shot of espresso mixed with white coco and caramel. The cappuccino was delicious but strong , a great drink to wake you up. The caramel bliss was also a strong drink with no cream or sugar to dilute it. Overall we would give this place a 7.5/10 for its great customer service and would recommend it.
At Peaberry’s in Boardman, we tried the Caramel Temptation which is an iced coffee made with cream and caramel. This drink was full of flavor and would be very nice for an afternoon stroll through the park. We tried the Club Croissant made with smoked turkey, ham and cheddar with crispy bacon. Overall, the croissant sandwich was not very good, the croissant was good but the turkey was dry and the bacon tasted old and was not crispy at all. We would recommend Peaberry’s drinks but not the lunch specials. We would rate this place a 7/10.
At Stone Fruit in Boardman, we tried the pumpkin spice latte and the caramel macchiato. The pumpkin spice latte was delicious and the pumpkin cold foam added a delicious taste. The caramel macchiato was made to perfection with the perfect amount of caramel in it. Overall we would rate this place a 10/10, highly recommend and will definitely go back soon.
At You Me Oui in Boardman, we tried the vanilla almond iced coffee and the caramel iced coffee. The vanilla almond iced coffee was made well with a good balance of flavor between the vanilla and almond. The caramel iced coffee was made with a strong shot of espresso but also offered a very good taste of caramel. You Me Oui was very good with various different coffee options. Overall, we rate it a 9/10 and highly recommend it.
Lastly, we went to Valley Cafe in Campbell. At Valley Cafe we tried the vanilla iced coffee. The vanilla iced coffee was made well, had a very sweet vanilla flavor to it, and the coffee was good. We would rate Valley Cafe 7/10, the coffee was good but the area and the inside of the Valley Cafe was very run down.
These small, local coffee shops were definitely worth trying. The smaller coffee shops offered different flavored coffees and diverse selection of menu items that are not found at Starbucks or Dunkin. These local coffee shops were all very personable and the workers were very outgoing and willing to start conversation. This created a personal, friendly experience that is often lacking from large chain restaurants. If you are looking to try a new coffee shop, check out any of these locations!
